The Artist: Derek Nobbs (Upper Left, USA)
Derek Nobbs is a talented young painter and illustrator based in various extended reaches of the American Pacific Northwest. His prolific work is heavily influenced by the natural landscape of the PNW - the sea, the mountains, the trees, and the mysterious creatures and stories that live therein. Through their weathered feel and vintage-inspired details, Derek's creations expertly explore what he calls the "darker side of nature."
BANDITS discovered Derek through a bandana that he designed for Aegis Handcraft. Once we saw this supernatural Joshua Tree-inspired collaboration, we immediately knew that we had to have him create a design for us. We're beyond excited about the intriguing illuminati-esque take on the "Outlaw" theme Derek created in "Fight For The Light," and we can't wait for you to see it in person!
Derek is self-admittedly selective in his projects. In his own words Derek explained, "I like to work with people passionate about what they do," and BANDITS is honored to join the prestigious list of brands that he has graced with his designs. In addition to Aegis, you can also find Derek's work in designs for Asher Goods, Allegory Brewing, Taglio Pizza, Rust & Regret, and High Desert Home.
The Design: "Fight For The Light"
Inspired by antiquated heraldic and occult symbology, “Fight For The Light” is a symbolic call to arms to the everyday outlaws that are fed up with the current state of affairs in our country. It's a flag to wave in opposition as you refuse to accept oppressive efforts of a powerful few. In Derek's words: "When darkness threatens our freedom, our compassion, our way of life, our progress, we must fight back. We must fight to keep the light lit and shining brighter than ever."
The Charity: ACLU (New York, NY)
For nearly 100 years the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has worked to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and laws of the United States.
Derek chose the ACLU in hopes that his design can help to inspire everyone to keep fighting for basic human rights. 10% of proceeds from your purchase of "Fight For The Light" will help the ACLU defend the constitutional rights of all people, regardless of race, creed, political views, gender, sexual preference, what they drive, or how badly they dress.
