The Artist: Allie Vaughan (St. Louis, MO)

Allie is a freelance multidisciplinary designer specializing in branding, web design, illustration, user experience, and user interface design. In her words, "I’m a wife, boy mom, and freelance designer. I have over a decade of professional experience leading creative projects and teams in agency environments, corporate world, and working directly with freelance clients. My unique background has given me the privilege of working with all types of clients and businesses, from startups and small businesses to Fortune 50 companies." When she's not designing, you can find Allie exploring, climbing mountains, hiking, or traveling with her family in their self-renovated RV. Allie's "Get Lost" design was chosen from over 100 entries as the winner of our CAMP BANDITS design contest in 2022. Along with her entry, she let us know "I have been waiting for my chance to design a Bandits bandana! When I saw the brief for this one I immediately thought of a personal experience and knew I HAD to enter :). We're so excited to have discovered Allie's incredible talent, and we're honored to feature her work on this beautiful bandana.

The Charity: For Autism Research

OAR was founded in December 2001 by seven individuals whose lives and families had been directly impacted by autism. They shared a common vision and set out on a singular mission – to apply science to answer the daily questions and challenges that autism presents to individuals with autism, their families, teachers, and caregivers.

OAR strives to use science to address the social, educational, and treatment concerns of self-advocates, parents, autism professionals, and caregivers. The mission of “applying” research to answer questions of daily concern to those living with autism defines their goals and program objectives and shapes their budget.

In addition to funding research, their mission includes the requirements to a) Disseminate new and useful information to as many members of the autism community as possible; and b) Direct all research and programs initiatives toward enhancing the quality of life for individuals with autism.

Allie has close family members who are and have been affected by Autism. It was important to her to use this design to raise awareness and support for this complex, often misunderstood disorder.
